Barrett Thompson, MD

Dr. Thompson is an ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract and refractive surgery including the use of advanced technology lenses. He also treats glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, as well as diseases of the eyelid and cornea. 

​Dr. Thompson graduated from college at The University of Tennessee – Knoxville majoring in Chemistry. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the chemistry departmental award. He then went on to attend medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where he was chosen to join the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society. He completed his intern year at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He attended residency at Hamilton Eye Institute where he served as chief resident.

​Growing up in Cleveland, TN, most of his family resides in and around the area. The beauty of the area and sense of community drew him back home after training. In his time away from work, he enjoys playing music, tennis, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
